The song describes a man reflecting on a recent break-up with his girlfriend. He begins questioning why he loves her, evidenced by the repeated sarcastic chorus "Oh she can read, she can read, she can read, she's bad". He then recalls why she broke up with him, with the lines "It's different now that I'm poor in aged/I'll never see this place again", and he realizes he can't forget her, with the lines "She puts the weights in my heart". A WKQX Radio interview with the band states that they wrote the song after watching a news report about a model's recent death.
